Data in the API
What you can look up, field by field. Every field comes from Motorstyrelsen's public extract of the Danish Motor Register (DMR), in the units Motorstyrelsen uses.
The vehicle
The response to a lookup by plate, VIN or ID. References such as make and color come with their name and ID.

Fuel and consumption
The fuels the vehicle runs on, with consumption and CO2 per fuel. A plug-in hybrid has both El (electric) and Benzin (petrol).

isPrimary | Whether it is the vehicle's primary fuel. The primary fuel comes first. |
kilometersPerLiter | Fuel economy, in km/l. |
co2Emission | CO2 emissions for this fuel, in g/km. |
electricConsumption | Electric energy consumption, in Wh/km. |
efficiencyTestProcedure | The test procedure the figures were measured under, e.g. WLTP or NEDC. |
Environment
Emissions and particle filter. The euro standard is on the vehicle.

Good to know
- The data is about the vehicle, not the owner. There is no personal data, insurance or debt, so data protection is simple.
- The latest inspection has its date, inspection type, result and odometer reading.
- The data follows Motorstyrelsen's weekly extract, and the Motorbay-Data-As-Of header says which extract a response comes from.
How to read the data
- IDs are strings. Don't parse them as numbers.
- Calendar dates are YYYY-MM-DD in fields ending in On. Instants are ISO 8601 in fields ending in At.
- Missing values are null and never left out. Lists are never null.
- Numbers keep Motorstyrelsen's units: kg, mm, kW, cm³, dB(A).
- The odometer is in thousands of km, as Motorstyrelsen records it.
- Deregistered, scrapped and exported vehicles stay in the data with their status.
